It was a viral hit, but it was still very much a Chinese-inspired design. The following year, it was renamed to the more reasonable Aquila 360, and it featured a new interior that was more European in style. But it still lacked a finished product page and concrete plans for production.
Fast forward to the present, and the Aquila 360 is back at the Dusseldorf show with a production-ready version that is better tailored for the European market. It's more elegant, more refined, and more functional. The trailer retains its attention-grabbing features, like the starry leather headliner and the smart aromatherapy system, but they're now listed as options, which is a smart move.
What makes the Aquila 360 truly fascinating is its attention to detail and its commitment to sustainability. The trailer is made of 80% aluminum and 85% recyclable materials, which is a refreshing change in an industry that's often criticized for its environmental impact. The construction is automotive-inspired, with a vehicle-grade aluminum-steel hybrid body made of laser-cut and welded panels, with an exterior layer of fiberglass and automotive paintjob.
The Aquila 360's layout remains unchanged, but many of the features are now optional, which gives buyers more flexibility. The entrance is through the back, where you'll find a two-part automatic door that allows you to use the lower section as a sort of terrace. The kitchen is still a single-block affair, but the cabinetry is now made of aluminum alloy, lightweight and eco-friendly, and made to resemble actual wood.
The Aquila 360's interior is a blend of sophistication and functionality. The walls are lined with soft-touch fabric that resembles felt, and the overall style borders on sophisticated with a visually appealing blend of browns, light and dark grays, and the occasional pop of bright color. At night, the five-person dinette converts into a bed, with the process automated. The teak flooring has been upgraded and is now more subtle, and you get a slatted finish on the pop-up roof.
The Aquila 360 comes standard with a 314Ah 12V lithium battery, a 3000W charger-inverter, a 13-inch smart control screen, a two-way roof vent, a one-burner induction cooktop in the kitchen and the stainless steel sink, and the porta-potti in the cabinet on the other side. It also comes with electric leveling, the electrochromic privacy glass, and the electric tailgate and rooftop expansion.
The trailer carries 31 liters (8 gallons) of freshwater and 23 liters (6 gallons) of gray, and comes with a spacious storage box on the tongue that, in the absence of gas cylinders, can be used for storage. The list of options now includes the wow-factor features, like the leather headliner with the starry effect, the smart aromatherapy system, and HiFi audio (4-way plus subwoofer). They also include more practical add-ons, such as another 314Ah battery, a 360W solar panel on the roof with an MPPT charge controller, a 2700W Dometic AC unit, a 2000W diesel heater, a 360-degree surveillance camera, a charging tower in the kitchen, and the compact drawer fridge.
Outside, you can add an awning or a tent, a slide-out kitchen with a 4.5kW diesel cooktop, a shower head, and a shower tent, and you'd have the full range of features you'd need for longer stays. A fully custom unit is also possible, if you get in touch with StarLight.
The Aquila 360 has a body of 80% aluminum and 85% recyclable materials, will ship across Europe, and has a delivery timeline of 8 to 16 weeks from the moment the order is confirmed. The one thing that StarLight hasn't said yet about the Aquila 360 is in regards to pricing, but this should be cleared soon.
