Amaal Mallik Opens Up About Family Struggles on Bigg Boss 19: I’m Not Afraid to Tell the Truth
Singer Amaal Mallik has spoken candidly about his family’s hardships on the reality show Bigg Boss 19. He shared deeply personal details, including his father Daboo Malik’s career challenges, the family’s financial strain tied to a loan of around Rs 3.5 crore, his mother’s experiences of mistreatment, and his grandfather’s illness. In an exclusive interview with IANS, Mallik explained why he chose to reveal these struggles on national television and asserted that he isn’t afraid to speak his truth.
Asked whether airing so much about his family—particularly his grandfather’s and mother’s struggles—was the right move, Mallik said he remains committed to presenting an honest narrative of his life. “If someone asks me about my entire journey, I will answer honestly. I’m not afraid to speak my truth. People worry about their image or their following. I don’t. If I’m telling my story, I will tell it fully. Some things my parents felt I could have said differently—naturally, their perspective differs from mine. They weren’t living inside that house. But I spoke from my heart.”
During his time on the show, Mallik detailed the family’s financial difficulties, recalling a period when they carried a heavy loan and received little support from relatives. He recalled, “During that time, we had a loan of Rs 3.5-4 crore because of multiple reasons and no one, neither my uncle, nor anyone, helped us.”
Mallik also discussed how these pressures were intensified by his grandfather’s serious illness and stressed that he has never leveraged his father’s name to boost his own career.
