A fiery feud is brewing in the MMA world, and it's about to get personal. Bo Nickal, a rising star in the sport, has set his sights on Colby Covington, and he's not holding back. This isn't just about winning a fight; it's about settling a score and sending a message.
The tension between these two fighters began at RAF 5, where they were both scheduled to compete. Covington was set to face Luke Rockhold, while Nickal was supposed to battle Yoel Romero. The pre-match press conference turned into a heated exchange, and even after Nickal withdrew due to Romero's weight issues, Covington kept up the attacks.
"I expected Colby to keep it professional, to show some class," Nickal explained. "But he had to keep it going, bringing up sensitive topics like the Penn State scandal, which I had nothing to do with. He's just trolling, trying to provoke a reaction."
And Nickal is ready to give him one.
"Colby is a bum, an idiot. I want to step into the cage with him and show everyone what he really is. This fight would be personal for me. Every fight up until now has been about sport, but this one... I want to cave his head in."
Covington, a career welterweight, has been a controversial figure in MMA for years, known for his personal attacks and political alignments. It's no surprise that he's now in Nickal's crosshairs.
"I challenged him to a wrestling match after Romero's withdrawal, offering my entire purse. I'd do it for free if it meant shutting him up. I know I'd embarrass him, and I think that's why he won't take the fight. But I'm ready to meet him in the UFC in June, at the White House event. I'll tear him apart and send him packing."
Covington, almost 38, hasn't won a fight since 2022 and has been inactive for over a year. Nickal believes this is his chance to end Covington's career.
"He's a fake, a phony. A JUCO bum who couldn't cut it in wrestling. He's been riding on the coattails of MMA's lack of wrestling skills for too long. He hasn't won anything in seven years. I think he's terrible, and I want to prove it. I don't think he'll last a round with me."
This is more than just a fight; it's a battle of egos and a chance for Nickal to make a statement. Will Covington accept the challenge, or will he continue to dodge Nickal's advances? Only time will tell.
