There’s an urgent notice for the citizens of Sydney regarding two newly reported cases of measles. One individual acquired the virus locally after being in contact with a known case earlier this month, while the other contracted it after returning from Southeast Asia.
Currently, New South Wales (NSW) is facing a heightened risk of measles, with four new cases emerging just in the past week. Since December 1, 2025, a total of 13 cases have been confirmed. As more people return from their overseas vacations, health officials anticipate that additional cases may arise.
The individuals diagnosed recently visited multiple locations throughout Sydney while they were unknowingly contagious, including various healthcare facilities. It’s important to note that these venues do not continue to pose a risk of transmission at this time.
