The Long-Awaited Reunion? Ween's Upcoming Release Unveiled
[Updated: February 4, 2026, 1:30 PM ET] - A bittersweet revelation for Ween fans! While we eagerly anticipated a reunion, the band has unveiled an exciting archival project for Record Store Day, offering a glimpse into their past.
The highly anticipated WeenEurope '90 box set is set to drop on April 18th, 2026, and it's a treasure trove for fans. This release takes us back to the band's early days, showcasing studio sessions from Eindhoven, Netherlands, on Christmas Day 1990. It's a time when Dean and Aaron Freeman, aka Gene Ween, were touring Europe as a dynamic duo, promoting their debut album, GodWeenSatan: The Oneness.
But here's where it gets controversial... and exciting! The box set includes long-lost studio recordings of their breakout hit, "Push the Lil' Daises," along with other gems like "Cover it with Gas and Set it on Fire," "Albino Sunburn Girl," and "I Wuz Nothin'." These tracks, which never made it to official releases, became live favorites over the years, and Ween even brought "I Wuz Nothin'" back to the stage in 2021, with a vocal twist - Gene to Dean!
And this is the part most people miss... the live component! LPs 2 and 3 of the set feature The Reality of Brown: Live in Basel. The exact details of this show are a mystery, but one thing's for sure - it started with an empty room. By the end, a small but dedicated crowd of five had gathered. When Mickey "Dean Ween" Melchiondo shared the audio with fans on his birthday in 2018, he called it "the best Ween show of all time."
"This is pure Ween... the reality of Brown," Mickey wrote. "We played in front of no one, except our tour manager, Rene, until the end when we had five attendees. Our sound guy was Pidah, and this show is a testament to the power of Brown."
Eight years later, Mickey's wish has come true, and the 1990 Basel show is finally getting an official release. While it's not the reunion announcement we hoped for, it's a sign that Deaner is still very much a part of the Weeniverse. In 2024, the band decided to take a step back from the stage due to concerns for Dean Ween's mental health.

Ween fans, we're with you! Let's hope for more exciting news soon.
[Originally published: February 4, 2026, 9 AM ET] - Ween sparks hope with a cryptic social media post! The alternative heroes left fans wondering with a post featuring their iconic symbol, the Boognish, and the caption, "Is this thing on, mang?"
Fans and bloggers went wild with theories, hoping for a reunion of Deaner, Gene Ween, Dave Dreiwitz, Claude Coleman Jr., and Glenn McClelland. But is it too good to be true? Ween's last online activity was in October 2025, announcing a vinyl reissue. Could this post be a hint at another release for Record Store Day? Or is it a glimmer of hope for a long-awaited reunion?
Ween had plans for a 40th-anniversary tour in 2024 and a Chocolate and Cheese celebration, but they canceled the first half, with Deaner citing the need to focus on his well-being. A few months later, they returned for a few shows and shared an anniversary reissue of Chocolate and Cheese. But then, the band announced an indefinite hiatus in August 2024, citing Deaner's mental health.
Since then, Deaner has been enjoying his time off, fishing in New Jersey, and working with his son, Michael Melchiondo. The Freeman kids, Michael and Ashton, even played a show together, honoring their fathers with a Ween deep cut, "Long Beach Island."
Long live Ween and the hope for a reunion!
